Hi,

Not too sure whether or not they would be any good, I know the ones you mean because I was looking at getting one! Do you do photography for a job or just as a hobby?

just do it for friends but considering doing more dont have anything only the slr and flash need som kit and saw theese on ebay dont know if i should chance it
I used to do a lot of B/W photography in the 60s & 70s at a club and the "in" thing in those days was to have a white nylon umbrella to bounce the flash in to.
A lot of the folks used to spray an old umbrella white which worked just as well.
It gives a nice soft even light.
Old plain velvet curtains also come in hand for back cloths.
I do photography in my spare time and make a bit of money from taking photos of people's kids, pets etc. I tend to just book an outdoor session with them and then just use the scenery as the back drop and natural lighting.

I agree with Wak to just hang a cloth up as a backdrop, if you stand the subject a few meters away from it, it will work just fine.

Confirmed ...
I would add, Monty, that if you use a wide aperture for portraits, the back ground will be slightly out of focus and make the subject look even sharper.
Is anyone on flickr?
