12d Appraisals, stick with them? (10) - R - T - C - S - S I can only think of CRITICISMS, but since I have submitted the solution, it has come up with one error in my statistics and this is the only clue that I don't quite get. Thanks.

Critisises wouldn't quite fit the clue as it's not a synonym for appraisals
Somebody just got all correct online. Very curious now.
I also wondered where I had gone wrong, but now I see everyone has a mistake. At least we are all thick together. ;-)
Two all correct now. Peter B has just like us a mistake.
All very curious.
I have put "late" as the answer for 3 down "Dead as in defLATEd dinghy"
I have been so intrigued by this that I bought myself the ST and did the paper version, which obviously I cannot submit online for verification. I am supremely confident that my answers are correct, apart, perhaps, from 17ac (Retirement Plans?) I can only think that there is a mistake online, replicated by those who have submitted all-correct solutions. My money is still on 'Criticisms'.

By the way, does anyone agree with me that the standard of clueing in the ST lags far behind that of The Times? When I do buy it I tackle the Mephisto with varying degrees of success, but normally leave the ordinary 'cryptic' untouched, as I usually find it boring. I only made the effort today because of this thread.
Only just got round to this weeks crossword!. The way I see it to criticise is to give stick hence the answer is criticisms. Hope this helps - I usually only come here for answers!
