Get a trusted neighbour/family member, to check the house every day and move the post, send your cards as normal.

ah thanks dotty! that decision is the right one no doubt. The more I thought about it, the more I got confused lol
In the intersts of not being burgled, I'd also put up a few decs as well in places where they can be seen.
christmas cards are cool, they make good roach material

woofgang. A few decorations sounds a good idea too.
Will ask neighbour to move post from a see through front door!

I feel mean now , thinking that my normally full xmas card list was going to be nearly empty.
Look like I'll sit and write just as I normally do, and look forward to reading all the cards when I get back home. thanks folks x
Hi puss, we will be away then too, most cards will have been delivered by the time we fly so I am taking them with me.
I agree with the decs thing tho' I am leaving my tree be, my daughter will take it down after the NY for us, always tells people you are at home then x
where you off to?
Years ago there used to be adverts published in the posh papers. Lord and Lady Much will not be sending Christmas greetings this year as they will be travelling in ....(wherever it happened to be)
Worth considering?
pusskin and Bobbisox !
There's always a chance that Father Xmas can get stuck in your Chimney whilst you are away on Holidays ! If I were you I would notify the Fire Service just incase they have to dismantle your Chimney. I would also notify Age Concern as Father Xmas must be getting on in Years now ! ;-)))
thats advertising the fact your'e away tho sandy..lol
I will soon know when on January 6th theres a pair of big black wellies lying on me roof red..lol
and a rancid smell in the house...ha-ha

hi bobbisox, sandy! all good replies. it seems so easy that you can just fly away and not worry about a thing , lol
were off to spain on 16th dec, so it seems a bit more awkward if you see what I mean.
Would be easier if it had of been after all the post had arrived before xmas.
so --will put a few bits of decor up then, and time the lights to come on too.
Our car is in the drive for 2 weeks, so thats a help.

bye for now folks --many thanks for the ideas x
True, Bobbi. Never thought of that. Santa's little helpers would come round and clear your house of anything of value.
I'll get my thinking cap back on...
Have a great time pusskin x
Question Author
thanks for your good wishes bobbi ! were off to mercia, spain.

redman, haha. We havent got a chimney to worry about now!

Sandy --lord and lady pusskins off for the holiday! , lol

I wish you all a brilliant xmas when it arrives. x
i`d still send cards and receive them as well, also you could buy a few timer plugs and put some fairy lights up around your windows so people think your at home.
I would also put one of those 'Santa stop here' signs on your lawn, and leave a car in your drive and record a dog barking and play it on a loop
Mercia?
we were there 18 months ago puss,,,enjoy :-)
Question Author
ha ha ha , all this chat has also cheered me up today! not been well this week, had a nasty bug--cold.
So, will make a start on all the cards tomorrow, seeing as its the last thing I feel like doing. I'll get there very slowly, no rush now. hee hee
Time to sort dinner now, enjoy tele tonight x pusskins
