Cuba holiday - Interesting suggestions please

We are going to Cuba for a fortnight and dont want to spend the whole time on the beach ( Varadero ). Any suggestions for interesting places to go or things to do in Havana or the rest of the country would be appreciated.

Havana is a must.   I went to Cuba in 1994, and at the time transport was virtually impossible to get.   Don't know if it's better now.

Trinidad is also worth seeing if you get the chance, a bit run down but beautiful.

If you take little bars of soap, biros and cheap make-up items, then the inevitable crowds of locals will love you!

Went to Varadero on honeymoon (2003) it was a fantastic beach resort but you must go to Havana (we did a day trip and it wasn't enough) in fact the only thing I regret is that we didn't stay somewhere in Havana. Would have been wonderful to sample the nightlife - listen to Buena Vista Social Club (it will really get you in the mood) Have a great time!
