id be very grateful if any of you have had experience in using the samaritans to let me know if it helped?without going into any detail just now imat my wits end and cant burden anyone with it and ive thought that maybe they could either help or advise or do you have to be suicidal?im sorry if that sounded a bit flippant, hope you all know what i meant by it?i have over the past few days plucked up courage to deal with these issues but really need help aswell, thanks for reading, listening and in advance hopefully answering.

Hey,

I am Canadian, and have never heard of samaritans...but...I do know that I care about you and your struggles.  Please look for help wherever it may be found.  Contentment will come to you, look for it in tiny places...the little happenings.

Love,

a stranger

Shadrack.  The Samaritans are there to help anybody.  Please contact them.  They are lovely, caring people and you will feel so much better if you can unburden yourself to someone.  I have contacted them myself when I felt as you do now.

My thoughts are with you, be strong.

Hello shadrack, I echo all the earlier replies, please ring the Samaritains.Even if you are down and cannot see the way up they will listen to you. You are doing really well trying to deal with things. Sometimes we all need a little help. You do not have to tell them details of any problems you may have either, that is up to you. Please ring them and in the meantime give yourself a hug ,we are all rooting for you. Good luck.X

im so grateful to you at least for the support n understanding, ive emailed the samaritans jo campaign 3times this week and had no reply thats why i thought it maybe that my problems seem trivial and asked for your help instead.these replys have gave me the push to do something about it.perhaps tomorrow i may try phoning them!!!!!!!!!thanks ever so much,i promise to keep you informed, x
shadrack if you want to you can ring them at all times of day, so you won't have to wait until morning if you feel the need to talk sooner. Take care now X

I can't add a lot to what's already been said so well but I do hope you find the courage to pick up the phone.  Maybe you could jot a few keywords regarding your problems down on a paper to jog you along if you feel you might clam up.

All the very best, things will get better.x

Hi shadrack. I was a samaritan for many years, I can echo what has been said above - they are there for anybody who feels they need to share their thoughts and feelings with someone who will not judge them. Samaritans will not give you advice, but they will give you space to say exactly how you feel, no matter how bad you might think those feelings are. You can be honest and open, and know that what you say will be treated in absolute confidence. If you contact the Samaritans, you will normaly be asked if you are feeling suicidal - this is because many people cannot freely admit to these feelings, but it does not mean that if you are not suicidal you are wasting their time. Ring them visit your local branch or email - you should get a response quicker than 3 days - if you haven't had a response it must be because they have a backlog of messages (and they are always short of volunteers) - NOT because of anything you said in the email.

Your problems are not trivial, and you ahve shown great courage in trying to deal with them. All the best.

Shadrack,I'm sorry to say but I didnt have a good experience with the samaritans.I was in a bit of a mess a while back and phoned but the minute I said that I wasn't really feeling suicidal the person on the phone seemed to lose interest and honestly was of no help or support whatsoever. In fact she seemed keen to get me off the line! That said, it will very much depend on who you get to talk to.What I would say is give them a phone and try them, you could be luckier than me and to be fair they have a great reputation.Whatever you decide, get help and talk to someone, there is help out there.I spent along time struggling and was luck to find a great support network and am happier and more content now than I have ever simply because I took the move to get help. You'll find it too.The best of luck to you.Just hang in there.x

Shadrack, whatever is bothering you, be strong and try to keep as busy as possible - that's what got me through bad times. Take care x

Shadrack,  Please tell us about yourself...what is going on?  While you wait, let us know about you...

Love, a stranger
