Im not asking this to upset the women, though I'm sure it will.

Throughout the animal kingdom (generally speaking) it is quite natural for the male of the species to expand his gene pool as far and as wide as possible by mating with as many females as possible.

Civilisation has tried to stop this in humans, is it possible that this interference with natures natural course is why so many men stray?

Reproductive strategies vary. Physical dominance over females and other males is well documented. Genetic research suggests that only a small proportion of males father children until about 10,000 years ago.

However low ranking males can get busy while the big guys are fighting each other. These males can put more energy into intellect and other features that might attract a mate instead of fighting.

Once rape becomes illegal the generations of gentle-men concentrated on keeping their wives happy so they doesn't stray. He benefits more from his wife's intellect than in domant males because he is not focussed on dominating others.

He is also much more likely to get most of the women of the group onside through the relationship with his wife even though he is not sexually involved with the others. Many women admire fidelity in a man and offer much more support when they can trust him not to take advantage of them when working together.

A significant proportion of men are influenced by this alternative model of power. We are not all dominators. Women who know and understand they have a guy like this are usually fairly careful to keep them.

Very interesting how it was only females that responded except for a 20 year old male, good answer though.

Thank You all :-)
Most males are also latent homosexuals and I am sure that hasn't died out.
