i then moved to a new address.

Pay it.

How do you accidentally drive a car you're not insured for?

Anyway...if you don't pay it the bailiffs will be out.
So you where walking along and fell over right into a car and you where then driving it by accident? One for the record books there mate! Pay it, end of!

was insured to drive a vehicle for work.picked up keys to identical looking vehicle which had just been bought.anpr showed as no known driver.as i said,i've moved address and my surname is spelled wrongly on the collection order so not worried about bailiffs.
that won't stop collection. Pay it now or watch it escalate with all sorts of fees.
If you don't pay it be very worried about the bailiffs...they will be court bailiffs and they WILL find you.
have to agree with the others - proceed by paying it
On a better note...court bailiffs do not put the same amount of charges on as private bailiffs. They have more power though...

and what about the £80 they already accepted from me?
which was the only amount their website would take.
do i write that off too..
You can mention that you have already paid £80 towards it. If you can produce a receipt or some evidence they will probably deduct that from the outstanding amount. Whatever you do do not ignore this, it will not go away.
As R1 says...

i have receipt number(from their website) and visa statement.
its the 50% surcharge i was unhappy about.
so far the system has made a mistake with the amount to pay.
and the courts have spelled my surname and street address wrongly.
i will offer them £120 and see what happens.
all you have to do is talk to them and show them you have paid 80 quid already.
however, dunno if you'll get them to take off the surcharge - you knew you should have paid 200 quid and could easily have contacted them then to say the website wouldn't allow you to pay it. Spelling your name wrong wont cut any ice i'm afriad, and as the street spelling wrong didn't mean it didn't get to you so you can't use that to get off either i'm afraid
Seriously...just pay it.

foreign licence.
Question Author
will post reply from courts.
its worth writing in an explaining the fact that you tried to pay and it only took £80 from you...you could i suppose say you just followed the forms instructions etc and didnt notice, they may accept that an remove the extra fee and deduct what you already paid, as the error was partly their fault, but dont count on it..expect to pay if they say no.
If you were driving a work vehicle and belived it to be insured and it wasn't, you have a defence to driving uninsured under the Road Traffic Act.
Question Author
