Burning of the Koran
Why is it when Muslims are burning western countries flags' there is not a peep from the western world but when someone in the Western world threatens to burn a copy of the Koran (which like it or not is just a book) all hell breaks loose from the Muslim world.

The burning of any other religion's holy book probably wouldn’t have even got into the mainstream news. So why does the burning of the Koran by a group of nobodies get into almost every news outlet in the world and warrant a quote from the the US Attorney General, who said that the idea is "idiotic and dangerous"? Why should such a silly stunt be 'dangerous'?...

If this is so, is it not also an affront to burn effigies of Pastor Jones or for hoards of outraged Muslims in Pakistan and Afghanistan to march around carrying placards proclaiming “Death To Americans for Insulting Islam”? If it's an affront to insult another person's religion, why do Palestinian TV channels routinely refer to the citizens of Israel as pigs or dogs and portray them as being sub-human because some of them happen to be Jewish?
The Islamic religion is a world-class religion insulter. And yet the second someone turns the tables on them and insults them back, all hell breaks loose. Yet again, the religion of peace clearly demonstrates that it is more than willing to dish out insults but goes completely berserk when it is perceived to be 'insulted'. The entire Islamic world acts like a petulant child that can't have it's own way.

I don't want to get into the 'who's right and who's' wrong in it all. I just hope that the Preacher does not carry his threat through later today, for no other reason, than for harmony to prevail in such a sad anniversary, of so many lost.
It is after all, the day in which so many poor souls lost their lives, simply because of blind radicals their and hatred - not too mention the fact that they carried out the killings in the name of religion.
I'm sure all those who remain, and will be mourning their lost love ones later today, want to do so with dignity. Why cause hurt to their memory?

I tend to agree with you Birdie,there seems to be a real lack of moderate Islam/Muslim leaders! Why should one mad idiot in America,be seen to reflect the policy of a whole country,and why do the leaders of Muslim countries not make it apparently clear to their people that he is an idiot which all western countries agree...and just take him as the mad zealot he is?

Now the leading lights in USA Islam want to build a 'Cultural Centre' overlooking what has become to be known as 'ground zero'. This is like dropping a none Halal MacDonalds into Mecca right next door to the Kaaba.
It's a calculated measure to insult and outrage as many people as possible and see just how far western liberalism is prepared to stretch.

I quite agree Mobiliser. Those directly affected by 9/11 should be allowed to deal with it however it suits them best and the rest of us should butt out.

birdie, I agree with you, it is a diabolic insult to those who perished, if a Muslim / Islam desire to build any form of establishment within a 100 mile radius of Ground Zero! To put it politely, it is in very bad taste and should not be allowed = as I say, I'm putting my observation on that issue, politely! Though I would think the City Planners would have a greater say in prohibiting any such building.

I find it harrowing enough watching the events that are portrayed through the media, and yet, it is compelling watching for me! All I can say to that end is this. I still cannot take in that such horrific events took place, and I Pray to my God, that I will never witness the same again in my lifetime.

My personal difficulties with 9/11 stem from my faith in the laws of physics. Whoever's god was on duty that day was well-rehearsed.
The thing that saddens me most is that, like the death of Diana (which was a car crash. They happen), this will become year by year more marshmallow-like and it won't be allowed to be questioned. I don't like that idea.

I assume you're referring to (amongst other things) Hani Hanjour's quite extraordinary mid-air manoeuvres whilst at the controls of flight 77. I too, have grave reservations about the official story.
