Can anyone tell me about the sussex cherdle? It's a pie traditional to the county but I can find no description or recipe on the net or any book I've yet seen.

Like In a Pickle, I live in Sussex (born and raised here) and I've never heard of a cherdle/churdle, If it's a tradition, then it's an obscure one. Anyway, like IAP, I'm a veggie and it sounds pretty nasty to me.

I know Sussex Pond pudding though - top recipe.

Radio 4 programme Tuesday 6th September - Ian McMillan's programme 'Who ate all the pies' devoted whole programme to Sussex Churdle.

Also - Ashdown Forest are having a festival in October where the cafe at the Llama Park will be serving the Sussex churdle.

They sound really good
