importing new vw camper vans

My friend said that VW camper vans (old style) are still in production (Brazil?) Are they and can I/how much is it to import one? Anyone know any good sites to look at? Thank!!!

Hi! Yes, the old Type 2 bay window van is still in production in South America. I got all excited too when I found out, so hence I've remembered the following info!!! It basically a 1970s style camper, but it now has a 1.6 injection engine but still aircooled as before, a slightly different dashboard and steering wheel, plus it has some extra crash protection in the front panel. There are companies importing them into the UK, as a either a minibus, or for (quite) a bit extra, converted into a camper by Danbury (who did one of the original versions, in the 60s and 70s)... The details were in a recent issue of AutoExpress. I think the company is Beetles (UK) but I will find out and post the details asap. Watch this space! :)

Okay, further to my first answer.. and if AB Editor will permit. The company importing them is: Beetles (UK) Ltd, (0870) 120 2356.They are based in Rangeworthy, South Gloucestershire. According the their article, a righthand drive version is �17,999, with a 3 yr parts and labour warranty. Hope this helps.
