Big religion =strong dogma

It seems to me that the stronger the dogma of a religion the more believers it has. ie. The higher the prison walls the fewer inmates escape. Comments ?

More like, the higher the castle they build the more unassailable the beliefs, and the safer the believers feel.

you may well be right, could be a castle surrounded by a prison though.
No better prision than one where the inmates are happy to stay. Easily achieved when you have control of their thoughts. Hence the intense dogma.
Stone walls do not a prison make,
Nor iron bars a cage;
Minds innocent and quiet take
That for an hermitage;
If I have freedom in my love,
And in my soul am free,
Angels alone that soar above
Enjoy such liberty.

Pity I don't believe in the soul or angels. I'd change love for thought, and soul for mind, and angels for birds. Then it might say something meaningful about your question. Wouldn't rhyme though!
