Perhaps you were on some huge email circulation someone sent round with a joke, and they've added everyone... don't go there pasta, it could be a scam, if you don't know the person just delete it.

I have no intention of adding them...just as I never open emails that are unknown quantities....but the do spark my curiosity....lol

it's the same way we get loads of spam mail - in the case of 'adding as a friend' on either facebook or chat mail it seems the more names you have the better - doesn't seem to matter whether or not you actually know half of them - weird

I had that on FB - someone I'd never heard of. I assumed it was spam but it turned out he knew quite a few people I know - and yet not one of them knew I was on FB, so how did HE know? And who was he anyway?
