Every time I switch my computer on the clock returns to midnight December 30, 2005, it's only started doing this recently and I can't find a way to keep it current. I'm getting fed up resetting it. Any ideas to fix it please?

Sounds very much like the motherboard battery needs replacing. The manual should tell you what type it takes...

It's time to replace the CMOS battery in your computer:

yes, I was going to say the same thing ;o)
Hi you need a 2032 button battery but remember this will clear your cmos and revert it back to the default settings. If your computer acts a little strange you may have to upgrade your bios to the latest one.from your motherboard manufacturer
I understand that if you change the battery fairly quickly (within a few minutes) it won't affect anything in the BIOS. AT least it never has when I've changed them, so be prepared and buy the battery BEFORE you remove the old one.
Just a thought!
BIOS battery is correct, however don't assume it will be a CR2032, not all are, best to remove it and check what it is before buying (wak, if the clock is being reset then it will already have lost all the bios settings and reverted back to default settings)
Of course it will, Chuck. I've probably never let mine get to the completely flat stage.
Cheers.
Wak.
