Does anyone know why I-Tunes deletes items I no longer require but they do not appear in the Recycle Bin. This is a problem which has only occurred very recently as they were previously sent to the Recycle Bin. I have looked at the help pages on I-Tunes to try and sort the problem but can't find the items on any of my files and folders on my hard drive.

Items in ITunes have 2 components - the actual file (mp3, m4a, etc) and a pointer to it.
Only the files, not the pointers, can go to the Recycle.
When you delete stuff, there is an option to delete just the pointer or both the pointer and the file.
I suspect you have somehow altered this option.
I don't have access to ITunes at the moment, so I can't tell you where the option is - but maybe this information will be helpful.
To delete an item completely from itunes you need to delete from the library section not from playlists or genius mixes. Deleting from these sections only removes the item from the list not from the library

Thanks for all the advice. I do only delete from the library but all that I-Tunes asks is do I want to delete the item, no actual option as to how or where. Out of a list of, say, 20 items it will offer an option of sending to the recycle bin about 10 of them. Where the other 10 go I do not know.
