A bit chancy, but could it be SCUR ? i(s cur)t. Beetle could be to hurry up, and scur seems to have that meaning.

I am toying with DESI for #1 thinking that there may be a variant of Desire (want) as DESI + R (rupee)
Yes. It does look like desi, which does at least relate to India
