I posted a similar question a couple back. Due to go on hols 3pm sat. Husband comes back from shop at 2pm says light on dash on. After numerous phone cals and net searches plus calling out green flag the consensus from all who are in the know was this: it could be a minor problem BUT it could be major and needs to be tested at a garage with suitable equipment to test the computer system. Green flag man said on no account drive and that as soon as the car is booked in to a garage to call breakdown again who will tow it. He said I could seriously damage the engine.

So ... no car and no holiday. But could have been worse we could have been doing 80 on the M5 and it might have konked out. What a picture 3 kids, luggage and killer traffic.

The fact that the engine light is staying on seems to point to the problem being more than a sensor breaking down, when a sensor breaks down usually the  warning light flashes rather than staying on, sorry but this seems to be a dealer computer job. If the coil pack was fitted under waranty I see no reason why whatever the dealer says needs changing after the diagnostic check should not also be covered under warranty . I take it this is a Ford 3 year warranty.
