I got a tribal tattoo done on my abdomen 5 days ago, but was not given much aftercare advice. i was given a small tub of tattoo aftercare stuff and told to apply it when the tattoo felt tight. i used savlon on it for the first time 5 days after tattooing, but the area is still red and painful and heavily scabbed. is this normal? what should i do?

You're doing the right thing and it can be sore for quite a while so don't worry.

Savlon has a bleaching agent in it and is not good for tattooes, it makes them fade.

It is usual to scab, but dont pick it or you will get bits missing from the tattoo, dont scrub when washing, just dab it with a soft sponge

Use savlon spray (wound wash) rather than the cream
