I have only just discovered (after 13 months) that my mobile phone plan includes 100 kb. of Internet use
now this does not seem like a lot to me but could anybody tell me how long this would last just browsing and NOT downloading anything, I haven't got a clue.

100 kb of use is nothing. You avatar is 10kb so it would be equal to looking at that 10 times.

in fact 100Kb is so little I suspect you may have got the amount wrong somehow. I can see no point of a provider giving such a small allowance.

Well just checked my tarrif online (with 02) and it is deffinatly 100 kb.
but then I guess they wouldn't be giving much away!
