Watching a show on tv last night about customs at British airports,it`s on weekly and is very interesting. The one thing that crops up nearly every week is the number of people who try to smuggle large quantities of cigarettes and tobacco into the country, why is that, is a packet of cigs. really expensive over there?

over six pound for a packet of 20.
they cost less than that for 200 when i married in 1978.
About the same for 50g of rolling tobacco...

I remember 20 Marlboro costing 50p... A pint was 25p... Gods, I feel old now :-(
Suggest you start shopping somewhere else cupid!

though they are not far off, £5.24 for the pack I bought earlier, I've yet to see packs over £6 other than in vending machines.
Aah, everything seems better with a large V &T!..
hello chuck, where do you buy your fags. I get mine in the local Asdas. Perhaps you
smoke cheap brands. I only smoke the best!
Lie-in King, if you are getting 50g tobaccos for about £6 you probably don't want to be admitting it on a public website!

50g is more like £12-13 in shops
Marfair (the fags, not where I get them) but even B&H is well under £6 round here.
Quite right, Chuck! Meant 25g... It's been a long day!
I pay £6-50 for 25g locally,But when I go to Spain I pay £4-00 for 50g and you are allowed to bring home 3.2kilos per person (but try not to fly ryanair they will charge you for excess baggaga)ha!ha!
