If your sleeping on the settee then it's no
surprise that you can't sleep
when you go to bed. Try cutting out caffeine at
least after six o clock.

hi count, i only drink one coffee a day and thats in the morning.

and i dont intend to sleep on the settee, i watch tv, then i fall a sleep, but there are times when i cant sleep i go to the settee and i can fall asleep straight away
Strange. I use deep slow breathing and that gets me off. I also find it strangely comforting to lay on my back and interlock my hands on my stomach. Like dead knight in a church. I sometimes have my dog laid at my feet
too.
I can't sleep on my front or back, I have to be curled to one side.

I know what you mean, if I cuddle up on the sofa I can get to sleep so much easier than in bed sometimes.
it may be that the flickering light of a TV or the rhythmic rocking of a train carriage is helping you to sleep (they do it for me) and you don't get these sensations in bed.
Have you fallen asleep in front of the TV again?
