Gandhi led Indians in their campaign for independence from the British empire through the early/mid 20th century but insisted on non-violence, appealing instead to the British conscience. Shortly after this was achieved, he was killed - by a Hindu fanatic. Wikipedia biography here, or see the Oscar-winning film, which has a stunning performance by Ben Kingsley.

what do you mean?

bit of a weird question/odd tense.

He was a champion of human rights and he was against the use of violence. Sounds all right to me.

we got a whole morning off school to watch it at Haslemere cinema. The film was crap though, was 3 hours long and I nodded off for most of it.

The filmakers had the decency to put the bit where Gandhi got assasinated at the start of the film so I didn't really miss the good parts.

What next...?

What is so bad about hitler?
