Can anybody suggest some hymns for our wedding? I really dont know very many. I would like some quite upbeat ones, not any that remind people of funerals!

Go Tell It On The Mountain is very upbeat

I would advise you to choose carefully - although there are some lovely hymns around, if you doubt whether many of either family will know them, it can be slightly uncomfortable. If you think this might be the case I would suggest is pick some of the common hymns like "Morning has broken", "All things bright and beuautiful", "the Lord is my shepard", etc. - I've heard them all at weddings.

However, if you have families that are going to be familiar with most hymns, then I can only suggest my favorites: "Love Divine", "Great is thy faithfulness" and "O Perfect Love", which is particularly appropriate. And "Let there be love" is a nice tune to have played while you sign the register.

... and of course, good luck with your big day!

O happy days ... cracking hymn for a wedding .. my mate had it at his.
My fave hymn is Shine Jesus Shine which is very uplifting, although not particularly wedding-y.
Sorry that none of my earlier suggestions are particularly upbeat - I'm a bit of a traditionalist when it comes to hymns!

Having been to many weddings where nobody seems to know the tune of the hymn apart from the choir may i suggest the one that goes........

Sing Hosana, sing Hosana

Sing Hosana to the King of Kings

Give me praise in the morning keep me praising....blah blah

I don't know what it is called but atleast everyone will know the tune!!!

Good luck on your big day.

Yeah, I remember Shine Jesus Shine- I loved that one at primary school! All happy clappy- wicked! I also enjoyed 'Would you walk by', but I don't really think that's appropriate for a wedding...
How about 'all things bright and beautiful.' It's a happy song and everyones knows it, so they should all sing with a bit of luck.Hope your wedding goes well have a lovely day.

Thank you for all your suggestions and kind wishes. I am going to look into all of them. Really didnt know where to start so thank you for helping.

When I got married the first time someone suggested - "Fight the good Fight"

I think we should have had that! The marriage only lasted 14 months!!!

Whatever you choose - enjoy your day!

most people know 'Praise my soul the KIng of Heaven'. One a bit more upbeat and very  easy to sing is 'Come on and Celebrate'.
