Isn't this the most wonderful piece of television? Superb photography and camera work, weird and wonderful animals and, of course, the fantastic David Attenborough. I heard that this is the last of such series he is going to do - say it isn't so!

It really is just fabulous. I read AA Gill's TV review recently about it and he said something which is so true: TV presenters are normally either really great presenters but know nothing about the subject, or are experts in their field but don't have the people skills to present their subject in a way that's interesting to the TV viewer. David Attenborough is the only one who has both. He really is great.

I forgot to say that the fact that Big Brother beat The Blue Planet as best reality show in the recent TV awards just sums up everything that's wrong with British society today. Oh dear, I'm starting to sound like my Dad, but it's true.

I was thinking last night what a state my life/head must be in when I choose to watch Footballers' Wives instead of The Life of Mammals. Clearly I prefer mammaries to mammals... or puppies to (seal) puppies. Yours ashamedly, rja

I quite agree - DA's boundless enthusiasm for his subjects is infectious, and he is a natrual communicator. I hope he does more, but he isn't getting any younger. Still, we have a massive legacy of work to watch over again.

Another brill DA series. In reply to your query Simon, DA was interviewed on the Steve Wright show (in December I think) and he said he had 2 more series' in the pipeline. He said he would keep going as long as he could as he loved doing the shows.

Yeah. Life of Mammals is one of the few things I actually get out of my PC chair to go and watch. Magnificent photography, rare scenes and of course the wonderful narrative of David Attenborough. A triumph. Pure quality.
