Before you all jump up and down to say "you can't - thats dangerous!", it would be great when I am stuck in traffic and creeping forward to be able to see the telly rather than it cutting out every time I release the handbrake....any ideas?!!

Beats me but then I can't understand why you can't watch Tv whilst on the move but you can happily browse I drive and Satnav systems....bonkers.
If the television is that important, maybe the car is not really necessary.  It had to come - I recently saw someone on the motorway with a broadsheet newspaper stretched out in front of him.  Of all the people I have seen using only phones while driving, not one has looked safe.  Oh yes - the maximum fine for the telly is 2,500.
IT's entirely illegal for the driver to be able to see the telly whilst driving.

I know its illegal!  Thats why I started my question as I did!  I then went on to state while creeping forward in traffic, thanks for the reply, but I don't know why you bothered - I had the answer to that question, and you didnt answer mine.  Doh.

Thanks Saxo - tried that but it bleeps at me!  Surely there must be just a  way I can unplug something!!

If you know that it's illegal rather than dangerous you ought to have stated that.

There is a difference between illegal and dangerous.

So, it's still illegal and dangerous to watch TV whilst crawling in traffic.

Get a chauffeur..... or buy a Haynes and DIY and I hope you consider other people before you put their lives at risk by your watching TV whilst you're supposed to have your eyes on the road.

And BMW drivers wonder why they have a bad name......

waggers - I'll bet you drive a ford.
gor hes not talking about watchin his tv while doing 90 down the motorway is he! hes talking about when hes hardly moving in traffic! im sure everyone of you has the radio on or some of you play with your phones! just give him a break he knows what wuld happen if he was to drive fast while watching that he isnt stupid!
Unfortunately most accidents happen at less than 30mph and these are caused by drivers not paying attention.
Hi. It is possible to unlock the tv. Most people get it done so that the passengers can view it!!! Let me know what model & year your vehicle is & I will tell you what is required.

Loola - it is a 330ci sport convertible July 2003 plate.... sounds interesting!
No problem. There is a module in the boot which needs to be reprogrammed with slightly different data. I am able to do this for you as I specialize in mileage correction & dashboard repairs etc.. On the 5 series (e39) it is possible to unlock it just by using a certain sequence of buttons!! If you are interested then feel free to email me if you wish - [email protected]
Cheers.
