D: Drive disappears! Help

I have a HP desktop with 2 internal HDs (C & D). C is the system disc and D is the storage. In addition I have some external HDs connected via a USB hub. These are the ultimate destination for my files but all copying/downloading goes via D drive

My problem is that after a while of running the D Drive disappears! No warning - no reason obvious to me!!

When I "Start / My Computer" all drives are there except D

Seems the only way to get it back is to reboot. Any suggestions from ABers appreciated

Thanks

try setting the switch off hard drives option in the power saving setting to never as a temp fix.

for a proper fix I'd consider updating the computers bios and the hard drives firmware to the latest versions first.
