What, in your opinion, do you consider the best breed of dog to own as a pet?

For me, it's a Labrador, hands down. Beautiful, faithful, strong. I love 'em!

Labrador -  they are lovely, family-oriented,beautiful,faithful and imposing.

loooozzzzz, i love bullies.

They are very similar in their manorisms to staffies BUT are good with other dogs. Yes they are a little funny looking but dont you think they dont look like any other dog at all.

Labrador! That's what we always had. I don't have any dogs myself as I live in an apartment, but at some point when a garden enters my life, a lab would be on the top of the list. Other possibilities would be a Chow Chow I think they're adorable. My parents new pup is half lab and half weimaraner, as woofgang says, they're quite something, but she is soo sweet!

So, those of you that think labs are the greatest dog ever...join the other 80% of the population that feel that way...

I happen to think that labs are just the "safe" answer because no one ventures out to the more rare breeds as often as they should....I believe there is a perfect breed of dog for every person (and we all know every person & breed is different!)

Well, I've found mine, my Welsh Corgi, Mazy!...the best dog I could have ever taken into my life, she's perfect for me... MAZY

We had a corgi when I was young and she was gorgeous. Unfortunately she ate everything in sight and we woke up one morning and she was bleeding badly from the back end (don't know if she pierced anything) but we had to have her put to sleep.  Have 2 shi-tzus now. They are like cats in a dogs overcoat.
