Is Edgar Allan Poe great or what? What is everyone's favourite Poe story/poem? Which similar authors might a Poe fan enjoy? Thanks.

Tell Tale Heart; where he 'drops himself in it again', Cask of Amontillado where a guy is bricked up in the cellar and does he light a candle for comfort in exchange for losing a portion of his oxygen. The Gold Bug; about unravelling a code, and one about a Wilson boy.. IMO though, short stories by Stephen King 'The Ledge' and 'Quitters Inc' are equally well written. Also 'The Trial' by Franz Kafka and 'Leaf By Niggle' by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Tell Tale Heart is possibly the best short story ever written. I once saw a cartoon version of it on TV narrated by James Mason. Astounding!
