Does tax relief of £150 a year for an estimated four million married couples represent a serious commitment to the institution of marriage or is it a meaningless triviality?

Belive it or not vic, the good lady had bigger items on her plate, like clearing up the mess left by socialism and their union bully boys. So marraige etc didn't get much attention in those years.
Whereas now there's not much to worry about (apart from, say, two wars and a global economic crisis). So it's fine to focus on frilly irrelevances like this.
It's not a big ticket issue, I was mainly responding to the original poster.
I must vote for them!I'll get married and save £1 a week!
