I'm a Swede living in Sweden but we do get to see a lot of your British drama series and shows, Parkinson being one of the popular ones over here as well. I was just wondering, how is he and has he been up to anything interesting after the final Parkinson show?

woofgang, I have a cousin in Pompton Plains, which I think is not far away. I went to the wedding there in midwinter several years ago, and pretty bleak it was... however, they are still there and have three kids, so I guess the life suits them. He previously worked in New Mexico building adobe houses, so the snow may have come as a bit of a surprise to him.

I used to work with someone who wore that Poison perfume ...ugh .
I like good old Eau de Cologne or Clarins Eau de Dynamite or whatever it's called .
At the moment though I'm using my stock of very cheap Yardley Rose body spray which I got from the pound shop :)
I like lemony scents .I always liked L'air du Temps but I'm afraid perfume is not something I buy for myself these days .I just drop hints to the men folk when I'm desperate .
Yes the hair was a bit of a disaster Robinia :) In the last hour it went from shortish to long really rapidly .I was glad they chose that ending as the main one .A shame for poor old George though .I suppose they had to pick someone to die .I did watch the alternatIve ending .

I am now thoroughly cheesed off. Been to the Drs and he now says I have IBS as well as bl00dy Colitis. What do you do! I don't know!. It must be something to do with my nervous system cos I think it's caused by stress and anxiety and I have had both at one time or another. Anyway if any of my Biddy friends has the same or similar will they please give me a few tips on what I can do.. Other than that that is the first and last time I am going to mention it. They say things come in 3s so thats IBS UC and IGT sounds like a university degree or summat.
I'm pleased Frost didn't die last night. Now I'm looking forward to Foyle next week

My niece in her band and then my other niece, her sister, in New Zealand who plays the Clarinet. My Mum started all that off because she was a concert pianist and music teacher - brilliant.

Oh poor old Jude .I suffer with IBS and have done for years.I put it down to all the many and varied arthritis drugs they have have given me over the years. I'll swear they've affected my insides .I take that Buscopan which calms it down .But these days there are a lot of things in the food line that I avoid .Things that I like, but they don't like me !
I've had IBS since I was a teenager. Back then of course it was diagnosed as an allergy to dinosaurs and not take seriously..it and coliitis do often go together. I have phases when a food will set me off and i avoid it then I find I can eat it again. For years i couldn't digest peas of all stupid things.
Buscopan taken with a paracetamol with strong mint tea is a life saver for me when i get an attack. Before the flushes i would have added a hot water bottle to the prescription but now that would be coals to newcastle. I also keep crystallised ginger in the house and chomp on that. other than that the main trigger is stress wouldn't you know it.
The other thing i find really helpful when i get a bad attack is Dr Collis Brown's Liquid. Its a very old fashioned remedy that has a small amount of morphine in it...quite hard to get hold of now, many pharmacies won't stock it, I get mine on t'internet, not dodgy sites though. Its one of those meds that has been misused in the past and I am sure if you chugged it by the bottle it could do you harm but TBH I find the odd teaspoonfull a lifesaver at times.

Evening biddies. Obsession suits my skin even if I do say so myself but it's horrible in the bottle. And you have to be straight out of the shower when you apply it. I once asked an elderly gentleman what lovely scent he was wearing and he said 'Obscene' - he suffered from aphasia... Clinique Aromatics Elixir used to be my favourite but they've changed the formula so now I go for Paloma Picasso instead. It packs such a punch you must only spray it in the air and walk through the mist. The latest perfume I bought was L'Eau Ambrée by Prada. (You would like that one Robi.) On a completely different note there's Moschino's I Love Love, in a bottle that seems to be designed to appeal to fourteen year olds but don't be fooled - it isn't sexy but it's happy and nice. I used to love love love First by Van Cleef And Arpels but it's hard to come by these days, but that one was fab... oh and many many more! Charlie by Revlon was my first love:)
You conjure up images of The Great Gatsby, Woofy... (but that was Long Island I believe). Imagine being so close to The Big Apple and not really being interested, not even the DOG ha ha ha... I'm ridiculously urban although have to live by the coast or I go crazy, and the woods are just depressing.

IBS, Jude ugh! yes me too...My insides were wrecked years ago & nowadays stress is the biggest cause of mine, the slightest worry goes straight to my stomach. Apparently your brain & digestive system are are directly connected - whatever pain, sensation or emotion you experience goes through your stomach first.
Difficult to say which foods are the worst. I don't eat greasy, oily, fried food, but I do toss the odd potato around in a pool of lurpak :) Salad in large amounts is a no no, definitely no raw onion (& not too much cooked either)... nothing too spicy, I don't like it anyway...not too much wholemeal bread...not a lot of meat & nothing that comes from a pig. I think for me the key is not too much of any one thing...and not the same thing day after day. Colofac (mebeverine) tablets certainly ease pain and even if it's only 'the placebo effect' I think activia yoghurt really helps.
Now it's starting to smell like a tart's boudoir in here so it's time to open some windows & vacate...Thanks Kit for having us under your lid but where was Parky? Is he under the futon?

Morning all. Got the Bosch people ringing me up in a bit cos me Digistats going a bit wrong. I've set the heating to go off at 10.30 at night then it fires up again at 10.45. No idea why. There's always sumat int there.
Thanks so much Robi for your food guide. I cut down lots of things you said cos of my colitis and I do have Activia every day. Cutting out onions from now on. The only thing I fry in a teaspoon of veg oil is bacon about once a week. I do like cooked ham and pork loin so perhaps I should give them a miss or not have them so often. Thanks very much anyway - my last word on the subject. Having cottage pie today with Broc and carrots so not much to upset me there I hope. That's it no more talking about it again she says!!
Have to pay a visit to the Pharmecy today to take some Paracaetamol back. They are now out of date Iand came from my Dads when we were sorting out his house. I have 200 of them. What a shame they have to be destroyed.
It's raining here but they say better weather is on the way thanks goodness.
