hi
i have one of these for around 5 years now, never been a problem,
wondering if anyone has tried to fit a bigger hard drive in than the one it comes with (40GB)
would it ,does it work

it seems the 80Gb version can be upgraded

You will often find with questions like that you won't a a firm 100% answer though, it often comes down to try it and see if it works. (You can get 250gb drives for about £30 so it's not a huge risk to take)

How many hours of TV does that take, try recording in LP mode, you won't see any difference.

Failing that transfer some of your hard drive material onto discs.

i only use hq grade recording im a home cinema enthusiast not just a watch tv guy i have a top quality set up here
iv'e seen some peoples tv and i am aghast to see the quality they think is good,
these are the same people tell me they see the new films before there released! you know the copies where u see the audience walking about ? no thanks

I agree with you that a lot of people don't realise how bad the quality of the picture they are watching is, these are normally the same people that insist HD is no better than SD(when often they will have connected a HD source with a scart lead!)
Perhaps before posting you should inform others what an expert you are, and then the likes of me, who was only trying to help, would not bother answering.
