I have about 8 piercings and I work for a company who have stated in my contract I cannot wear them. But the branch I work for has a manager who isnt bothered so I keep them in, but if I change branches I know I will have to remove them. Alot of places dont agree with piercing or tattoos that are visable and although I agree when you work in a place like myself where it shouldnt really matter, its there company and you should have really checked it our beforehand. You have to accpet that as an adult you will have to do things you might not like - like dress in a uniform for your job and obey your contract.
Tetjam give you the best advice on here. Take it and run.
I suggest you pierce your eyebrows and lips if you haven't already. They will match your nose. Good luck!
If you really want your job then try and come to a compromise. First offer to wear a blue plaster over it, you will more than likely have to provide your own, this will make the healing process longer though and because you will be touching it regularly , you run the risk of infecting it or causing a bump to form around the piercing site. If there is no real issue safety wise with the jewelry ask them to bear with you for 6 weeks where you will soon be able to put a plug in whilst you work in place of the jewelry.

sarah-dawn, most people have tried to give you the best advice - but Tetjam isnt one of them. I gave you the real reason why jewellery is forbidden if youre working with food, and I could have added that if youre working shifting boxes and stacking shelves, then jewellery becomes a Health & Safety issue. However, if the good advice from me and from the other people here isnt what you want to hear, and youre determined to wear your nose-ring, I have to wonder why you wasted our time in the first place? All I can say is its your choice, so do as you please - but I hope you arent expecting a reference from your current employer.

Well, as this site is primarily a UK-based site for folks and issues in UK..............you'd perhaps have been better taking your hissy-fit onto a Canadian site..............
