Was she within her rights, in refusing to take in this gay couple, even though to accept them would have been against her strong religious convictions?

sp1814 some gay bars do , but because they had a bad time in the press they will use some other reason to stop you getting in.
No, SP, I don't support those people but I do think everyone has a right to their view. That's all, you seem very angry, because we don't all agree that gays should be accepted without question regardless.
I was referring to Nazi supporters as scum...I thought that was pretty clear.

Yes, there are others who disagree with my point of view, but the big difference is that the hotelier in question broke a law.

Those are the facts.

No...not angry....more a mixture of boredom and curiosity. When you grow up in an environment where prejudice (of any kind) is not tolerated, and when you work in a fast changing industry, where skill is valued above 'who' you are, it becomes slightly weird when you realise that there are people from previous generations who are still a bit 'ZX Spectrum-y'.

However, as I said before - these ideas will die out. I'm glad I'm here to see these prejudices wither away.

History does not support your visions.

In the past decadent societies have reach a certain stage, before they crumble to be replaced by much more puritan attitudes.

If you're talking about the Roman empire, I suggest you visit some of the clubs I've been to in Rimini. I assure you the decadence has returned with a vengeance.
Admitting gay couples into your establishment is a fore-runner to the end of civilisation as we know it ?

Too much Wincarnis, again, AOG................

Anyway, if your convictions tell you you don't have to obey the law, then you should be grateful for the the privilege of paying any penalty the law imposes.
