I really need some advice on style - clothes, makeup, hair, anything!!! i'm 14, 5 foot 5" and have very dark brown hair and eyes, my skin's also averagely dark (like a good tan). i seem to wear the same kind of clothes everyone my age does (jeans and boring tshirts) but i don't really like them - i think i look boring and common. im not EXACTLY overweight (????9.5 stone????), but i definitely wouldnt be happy in a miniskirt. i'd like to wear "outrageous" or "interesting" clothes but im a little worried about looking like a total idiot! my parents advice is "you look nice in everything dear" so i thought maybe asking the opinion of others would be useful. if anyone can offer some hints/pointers etc about what might suit my colouring or "size" id be really grateful, however small or insignificant the advice is! thanks in advance.

Have you tried 3/4 length trousers with some nice slouch boots and a shirt or a knee lenght denim skirt with boots/sandals and a gypsy top, there are quite fashionable but not too outrageous
yeah, gypsy clothes are in fashion. what about a nice mid length boho brown skirt with a turquoise top. accessories are really important - good chunky belt, slouchy boots, fab necklace. you'd look great in that with your dark features!
Accesorise!!! (which, I suppose, is an inderict advert for Accessorize, but hey).
Its a bit hard to give advice, though, as it would help to know your face and body shape, etc...
You can brighten up any jeans+tshirt combination with a funky hat, or scarf, brooches, belts, earrings and necklaces - anything. Its simple, versatile and fun. If you want to add a bit of 'girlie-ness', there are these really funky belt/scarf things, with sequens, in Oasis (but also many other places) - you can wear them around your neck, or as a belt, and as they're quite sparkly and eye-catching, it will brighten up your outfit instantly.
If you're a bit worried about your weight, wear heels - they will visually make you thinner. Try maybe taking a regular pair of jeans, turn them up to just below the knee, add some knee-high boots, a V neck tshirt, a jacket and wear some dangly earrings?
Colouring wise, you sound like my cousin - and she likes experimenting with colours - she will try to avoid black or brown tops, as they are a bit too dark, and go for bolder colours instead. Try aquamarine or turquoise tops with brown trousers.....
Hope this gives you some food for thought :)

Thanks a million to everyone who answered... it's surprising how a few ideas can give me so much inspiration!! in response to Lotus (hoping for a bit more of your 1st class advice :D) a shockingly large number of people say i look like a cross between catherine zeta-jones and angelina jolie, just a lot spottier! when told this i automatically thought about mimicking their dress style... but somehow i think my age would make me look rather stupid!! thanks again xx

Lotus is right, style is about the way to put clothes together. My advice would be never buy an 'outfit', make sure anything you buy can be worn with afew other things in your wardrobe or try puting things you already have with different things.

Go into a shop, pick up a whole load of clothes and try them on even if they dont look so good on the hanger.

If you get a bag make sure its practical. Get a big leather bag in a good colour, you can stuff it with htings and itll be timeless and go with anything, Topshops good for these.

Go into shops you'd never normally go to.

I could go on, i love shopping and helping other people shop.

Have fun experimenting!

Why not try a personal shopper? I went to John Lewis' personal shopper as I was looking for a particular outfit.  She showed me what to wear, what colours etc. and we walked around the store and I tried absolutely loads of things on I would never have dreamed of (I never wore skirts before but I have bought four now!)  And the thing is, once you have had all the advice, you don't feel obliged to buy anything.  If you feel guilty buy a couple of things .. you can always take them back if you decide to when you get them home.  You could also go to the makeup store and get your face made up .. MAC is very good.  I think most large stores have personal shoppers. Good luck!
