Can anyone recommend a short break holiday in Hong Kong or Kowloon. - travel operators, reasonable hotels, preferred areas etc.
Is it worth just going for 5-7 nights & what is the best time to go.

Many thanks,
Jersey, C.I.

I went about 18 months ago for 9 days. It is a long flight so it's probably not worth going for less than 5-7 nights. We booked it ourselves, we flew Finnair, who I was very impressed with, and seeing as we're a family of four we booked an apartment rather than a hotel. We went out for a family wedding, though we turned it into a holiday aswell. The reception for the wedding was held at the Royal Plaza in Kowloon, and this is where many of the guests who flew out from England stayed. We went in August, which is possibly not the best time to go as it is very hot but that was when the wedding was so we didn't have any choice!
personally, i think its a long way to go for such a short time. thinking the flight is about 12 hours.
seems to be lots of trips / hotel / review info here...

The flight is close to 12 hours each way, so it is a long way to go, but choose a half-decent airline and the flight will be over in no time at all. I went a couple of years ago and booked a flight/hotel package through eBookers.com. The cost was around £450 per person for direct flights from Heathrow with Virgin Atlantic and five nights at the Metropark Hotel Kowloon. A bus to the hotel took around 30 minutes and I seem to remember it was very affordable. Once at the centrally located hotel, getting around using the excellent public transport was never a problem.
