15a Sudden stock issue? (8)
Stampede seems to fit, but I don't understand where Sudden comes in. Would be very grateful if anyone could explain it - or is my guess wrong?

Stampede could be right. Cattle stock rushing out. What letters have you got?
Question Author
I hadn't thought of cattle - the word 'issue' made me think of stocks and shares which didn't seem to fit with stampede. But now I'm wondering where issue fits in, if we're talking about cattle. I've got ?T???E?E. Thanks for your reply - I'm not very good at this!
Issue can mean release
Stampede still fits!
Yes, I'm just clarifying why it is STAMPEDE. I had already answered STAMPEDE and explained the cattle rushing out and in my subsequent post was explaining for pentre the relevance of the word issue

Yes, of course! The penny's finally dropped. Thanks for your explanations and patience.
"issue" is a euphemism for "problem". Stampede is an obvious problem with cattle.
Question Author
Issue as a problem does make sense too. I'm not sure if I'll ever get the hang of these clues - makes the general knowledge crossword seem almost simple! But I'll persevere, and thanks again for taking the time to help
Pesevere, Pentre, with the cryptic clues. Practice makes pefect. The more you do, the more you will pick up on the codes and devices a setter uses. It is important to read clues in a different way. The obvious syntax and meaning is not the intended one.
Good luck!
