It's a weird type of widescreen
Question Author
another-view, what do you mean a wierd type of wide screen? redman, some characters in the link you gave are missing here...i can't guess the site address...are you compressing it AB?
Click on the link woodelf and it will open up the page for explanation. AB has compressed it but it will work.
anamorphic cameras used to be ones that filmed a scene on wide screen but then compressed it so it would fit on a negative of regular width; a projector would then reverse the process when it played in cinemas. For a DVD, I think it basically means the film is a widescreen one, like Cinemascope or something. It'll probably appear on your screen with black bands top and bottom to give it the right shape, unless you actually have a screen that's already the right shape.
