attaching pictures in hotmail

when i try to attach a picture to my messages in hotmail .. it won't let me do it ..and sometimes causes the computer to crash.. what causes this? how can i stop it happening?
prev could I safely upgrade my Vista Home Premium to Windows 7?

nope small or large it wont attach them.. it used to do it no trouble now it don't

yes, I click onto photos, my photos come up and then everything freezes up and i have to end what i'm doing to get it back to normal

Just got back to this post, always go to file to send attachments whether ther are files or photos.
