Can anyone please sort this out for me

if 2 +3 = 10
7 + 2 = 63
6 + 5 = 66
8 + 9 = 96

Then 9 + 7 = ????

I am told you need an IQ of 120 to solve it. that rules me out.

Is it definitely 8+9=96 ?
I was going to ask the same - there is some logic to all the other sums except that one!
agree with daftgrandad, there's a pattern there if one of those numbers is wrong.
Are you sure that you've typed the '8 + 9 = 96' correctly? I'd have expected to see '8 + 4 =96'
That's because the other examples seem to do the addition correctly (e.g. 2 + 3 = 5) and then multiply the result by the first number. (5 x 2 =10).

Assuming that there's a typo in that 4th line, that means that 9 + 7 = 144

Chris
(IQ measured, at various times, between 138 and 143 - so I'm probably completely wrong!)
I thought 144 add the two numbers then multiply the answer by the first number. It doesn't work for 8+9 which should give you 136 not 96. Back to the drawing board!
You are all right the last sum is incorrect
I aqnswered this question over a week ago and it was as everyone has stated by adding the two numbers and multiplying by the first number therefore youmust have posed the question wrongly.
I worked this maths problem out after being sent it by a friend this way:

2+3=10 (2x2)+(2x3)
7+2=63 (7x7)+(7x2)
6+5=66 (6x6)+(6x5)
8+4=96 (8x8)+(8x4)
9+7=144 (9x9)+(9x7) Another way of solving it.

My sincere apologies to all contributors for the delay in replying and more so for the incorrect information i supplied.
As you all rightly spotted the last sum should have been
8 + 4 = 96
Thanks to everyone and again my apologies.
144
Yes, for any two numbers n and m then:
n + m → n(n+m)
