Hi can some one help me, my ex partner won't take me of our joint bank account with Abbey National. We've been seperated for over 5 years and I've been married to someone else for two years.

I've been in the bank and they said he has to sign, and bring proof but he won't do it, and the bank refuses to help me.. What can I do?

Am I responsible for his debt etc?

Thanks in advance

Clean it out?
Monitor the account, every time money goes in transfer it somewhere else. He'll soon sign, belive me. You are responsible for the joint account not debt generally. But do this and it;s be sorted in 5 minutes.
As a joint account holder you are jointly liable for any debt on the account and therefore the bank can chase either of you. They also may be able to use funds you have at the same bank to cover any debt. Contact the bank and tell them the situation. They will usually freeze the account until things are sorted, and as he wont be able to use the account he'll soon sign
