Just after posting my saga of our new boiler etc,(yesterday),I got a pop up page telling me that my PC was infected and needed to follow the link to an Antivirus Live page!
I shut down the net and wondered what to do.
Then I took my courage in both hands and restarted the net,and the pop tried to load a trojan onto my PC.
Luckily my Norton Security Centre recognised it,grabbed it and deleted it!
I had a few worrying moments though,as this hasn't happened to me before.
Yes,I know this should rightly be in Technology, but this is more of a moan than a question! LOL

Sorry,
I should have added, we DID have an open fire during the saga of the boiler.
We are now basking in a new system, and trying to understand how the (space age) wall timer works!
Ah well it keeps this old brain ticking over! LOL

Well done

I work in the Anti-virus industry and these things are a major pain.

You also need to make sure the software on your computer is regularly kept up to date. These people find security errors in programs and exploit them to put malware on your machine without you having to click on anything!

If you're running windowns make sure your windows update is configured or visit http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com regularly

If you're a Mac user - the idea that macs can't get infected is a myth - there are less about but there are still plenty of safari vulnerabilities and there is a good collection of malware that really doesn't care about the operating system

Tullia,
What strange things one gets asked on CB! LOL
Well all I WILL say is we weren't cold in bed!(read into that what you will).
Jake,
Thanks for the advice.Luckily we have the most effective Norton Security programme you can get,it zapped the Trojan as soon as it saw it,and luckily it updates itself ( with the new virus/worm/trojan names) so hopefully we are covered.
This is first time in 11 years (of this PC) that we have had any problems.
So fingers crossed!
