I am really after some sympathy.
We booked the plumber last year to put in a new boiler, timing system etc.
Well, due to circumstances beyond his control (and ours) he is only now doing the work!
We didn't dare postpone till warmer weather as the old boiler was definitely on it's last legs.
Of course all this takes longer than the plumber first said.
So far we are without heating/hot water for 2 days!
He says "he hopes" it will be all over with by tomorrow (Thursday)
We do have an open fire in the sitting room but the rest of the hous is freezing.
Not much to do about it,but just feel better sharing it with all you CB chappies.
Sorry about the "chappies" but have just been watching Fry & Laurie in the DVD set of Jeves & Wooster.
Top hole you know.

I imagine you're keeping to the one room then? How are you managing for everything else?
Mr. V, I sympathise with you. I was without heat for ten days. Boiler broke on New Years' day. Thank goodness it's now fixed! Come tomorrow you and the Misses will be nice and warm, well hopefully.

Sachs,
Only a rather pathetic fan heater! LOL
Hello sara,Yes we have an electric blanket,so will probably be under it soon, but Elsie says she is so cold there is no nookie tonight!
NK,no more saucy links (yet) but stand by!
Thans Tullia,it's sods law isn't,if a heating job needs doing it's always in the Winter.
Thanks society,we have lived here for 11 years and this is first "hiccup" so not too bad really.
Mr V. You probably don't remember me, but you gave me some good advice. I hope you are warm soon.
A hot toddy for you both tonight is my suggestion. Thankfully it should not be such a cold night. You have permission to grow a full set sir until the hot water is back on!

Thanks caslass.
MOUCHA that's a great idea.
I haven't had a hot toddy for years, not since I last had a bad cold.
BTW,I first read your reply without my glasses, and thought you were saying I should have a hot totty! LOL
Well that might keep you warm, but what about Mrs.V?!!
Question Author
MOUCHA,
Oh she will have to make do with this 87 year old toyboy!LOL
She says she can't wait till I am 88,and then she can trade me in for 4 22 year olds, that's gratitude for you! LOL
That's just silly, Mr V !!
What on earth will she find to chat about with 4 x 22 year olds ? ;D
I suppose that means she could play bridge all night and have one to pour her drinks as a sub? Mind you I reckon it would take at least 4 to replace Mr V afterall. Tell me Mr V - is that the DVD set you got your dearest for Christmas? I thoroughly enjoyed the series. Watching it currently on ITV3. Brilliant production and excellent attention to detail - must have cost quite a bit to make.
I am soo sorry for your situation Mr.V.At least you have kept your sense of humour.I thought I was badly off when last year my landlord said he would fit double glazing....still waiting.
We dont have central heating, just gas fires downstairs, but very expensive to run eleci heater in bathroom,BUT we are all younger than yourself.
It aint right.
Hope all gets sorted, why doesent heating go wrong in the summer?
Enjoy a hot bath tomorrow with any luck
snooze well . Aya
It'd take 4 22 years old to equal to Mr. V charm, intelligence, wit, and strength. lol
