french census rules from the 19th c make it very difficult to assess the true stats.
right wing parties will scare monger with a higher number, and left wing the opposite.
I think pussy got his figures from that vile video that he posted on here the other day - since removed.

For what it's worth - the burqua offends/bothers me far less than jeans hanging somewhere at mid thigh level, "muffin tops", cheap over-sized gold jewellry, shirts with offensive slogans, etc. but would still never call to ban those items.

I have worn a burqua or an abayah in the past as I was raised abroad and didn't mind it - underneath I could wear whatever I wanted. I thought of it more as a coat and hat than anything - and it was actually quite liberating in a strange way - it gave a sense of privacy and anonymity and in a way security/safety - and if I couldn't be bothered to brush my hair or put on make up that day...!

I think that there is a bit of a vicious cycle here - the more people are clearly worried and threatened by Islam and the symbols of it, the more some individuals will cling to those symbols for security and a foundation, and to protect their heritage - personally I am never so English as when England is criticised by someone else.
To answer the original question: without question.

The video was the propaganda about Muslim population growth that was posted over the weekend.

Apologies if it was not from there that you got the stats but I watched the video before it was removed by the ed and some of the stats you mentioned earlier in this link seemed to tally with those mentioned in the video.

The "vile" was my opinion on it, as it was scaremongering and Islamophobic nonsense.

If it's the same video I've heard about, it is indeed vile. It was rubbished by the statasticians on BBC Radio Four's 'More Or Less'.

If it's the same one I'm thinking of, it's up there with the kind of propoganda issued by the German government about the Jews in the 30s.

...and people just buy into the stats without question. That's the scary bit.
Sorry for invoking the cliches of 'the Nazis' - but in this case, it fits.
Yes - they should their faces for security reasons. More so, for respect to all when in public - if they want to hide then stay at home. It's an insult to fellow humans and if they think they're more pious that's confirmation of their insult.
curious as to why mollykins started this thread yet hasn't contributed to it ?
Mollykins you there ????

/// A French poll released last year clearly states that less than 3% of the French population is comprised of Muslim people.///

I think you will find that it is double that figure, 6%of a population of 3,554,000.

They might get the message if we all walk around with a ski mask in our pocket, and then when we come across one of these Burka wearing individuals, we could then slip the mask over our heads and walk behind these women.

I wonder how far we would get before we had our 'collars felt'?
If this law is passed and enforced do you think that the persecuted would seek refuge somewhere else... like here?
Perhaps that is France's ploy?

What better excuse for our lot to allow them in, under the term 'Religious Persecution', it couldn't fail.
