What is the status of this mission and has anything new been learned?  What about photographs?  Everything seems to have gone quiet.

Well it appears to be a bit of old fashioned human error! The mission itself went fine, the block collided with the comet but the photos were terribly blurred (due either to warped or dirty lens). They assumed that they could be 'digitally enhanced' back on earth but unfortunately the amount of dust kicked up by the impact meant that the high res images could not be adequately processed to show what happened. I shouldn't think it'll be long before some sciencey type comes up with a fantastic piece of image enhancing software that will decipher the images but for now, we're left analysing the clouds of dust and vapour using more earthbound methods...
The actual collision was not what they are trying to study. The idea was to throw up some debris so the composition of the comet could be studied. They are probably analysing the data right now.
Have they tried Boots?
