the wires in them can be liable to a heck of a lot of wear and tear and could short and cause a fire.
An equivalent of an MOT is recommended for peace of mind. (although I never did in the 20 years of owning 4)

Poodi just got mine a few weeks back, so think it's ok for now. Anyway i only put in on for preheat then switch it off when i get into bed.
