First you need to know what type of perfume she likes, does she wear the same one all the time? If so, you would be better to stick to this one, perhaps some soaps, bath creme etc in that perfume.
It can be dicey to just choose one as what smells good on one person can stink like sh1t on another, due to different body oils.
If you really want to buy some as a surprise pressie, after you have decided whether her usual one smells musky, floral, etc, ask the counter assistant to guide you to a 'current' one that is based on the same.
