Recording programmes after digital change-over.

Hi. our area has now changed to digital TV. My elderly neighbour has a digital TV but an analogue DVD recorder (can't afford yet to buy a new one). She can record the programme she is watching but cannot watch one and record another. I have a spare set-top box, can I connect this to her recorder so she can record what she wants? If so, what do I connect the scart to? Can anyone help? Many thnaks.

If you have a digibox, VHS and digital TV each with 2 scart sockets you can use this set up. However, the VHS must have an AV or EXT input and not just an analogue input. If it has scart sockets it should be OK.
Main ariel to digibox then to VHS then on to TV. One scart lead direct from digibox to TV. A second scart lead from digibox to VHS and another scart lead from VHS to TV.
Your neighbour can then choose to watch the digital TV with the other two switched off, or watch a digital channel via the digibox. If she wants to record a programme she would need to select the programme to record on the digibox and select the correct input on her VHS. It could be EXT2 or AV2 or similar, check instruction book.
Whilst this programme is recording she could watch a different digital channel using the TV tuner.
Switching on the digibox or VHS will usually overide what ever is on the TV at the time. She would have to switch back to the TV manually whilst something is being recorded.
Can't guarantee this will work for her but it works for me.

Yes you can use a second box PROVIDED it has an RF loop through (two ant jacks at the back) . I use this with my video and have set up similar things for lots of people.
You will need to do as follows:
-Aerial to set top box (STB) RF/aerial in.
-RF flylead (ideally make one with some good twin screened, sat quality RF coax cable and two metal coax plugs, one male, one female) connect this from STB RF loop out to TV aerial in . this is so the signal goes to both the tv and the new stb.
-A second scart lead from set top box to DVD recorder AV input 2, or whatever is not currently used to wire it to the telly. This input will need to be chosen when recording.
