she wasnt sold any insurance, she was given it at no cost to her
As in 'part of the deal'?
no she paid, for arguement sake, £5000 "window" price and thats all she paid, as if she had gone in and paid cash. its seems that some people think im making this up, i can assure you i am not
I believe you.
Lol thanks
Gina I had exactly the same as your daughter - I bought a new Fiat Panda in the summer. The Fiat dealership asked if I had insurance and I said I'd phone my company and change the details, but they said that would take too long for me to get the written proof they needed for me to collect the car. They said phone this number at Aviva, give them your details and the new car reg. and you will get 7 days free insurance, which I did. Aviva faxed my insurance cover details straight through to Fiat and off I tootled in what looks like Postman Pat's little red van only smaller!
If a vehicle is already taxed and you have just purchased insurance you can get away with just carrying a cover note. Insurance companies can take up to a week to update information on the Motor Insurance Database (askMID). The reason i mentioned whether the vehicle is tax or not is because if it isn't in the MID you have around a 50% chance of a crown post office accepting your 'printed' cover note.

Dizmo,
P.S I insured my motorbike a week ago and it wasn't added to the MID for 5 days, luckly for me my cover note looked really good so the post office fell for it, allowing me to tax my vehicle.
You do not have to wait until your insurane comes up on

You do not have to wait until your insurance comes up on the above link before you can drive it.!

It can take up to a week until it appears on there.

As soon as you have bought it ring the insurance company and tell them you want it activated before you get in the car, no problem.
arrange your insurance before you buy it, as soon as it is yours ring the insurance and activate it, you can then drive the car.

There is no need to wait up to a week to see if it is insured with........

There is no need to have a cover note, there is no need to wait up to a week before your insurance appears on ASKMID !

Arrange your insurance with the Ins Company before you buy the car, then before you drive it ring the company and activate it.

easy.
Toureman I'm not sure who your list of answer were directed at but I couldn't help but think they were directed at me. Someone else previously said that you have to wait for your vehicle to be on the MID, I was mearly stating under what circumstances this would be true. The circumstance being if the vehicle was not taxed; you cannot tax a vehicle online without the vehicle being in the MID nor can you tax it at a post office (crown) without having your insurance papers or, what looks to be a damn good looking cover note (without a cover note you would be unable to prove that the vehicle is insured). My apologies if you were not directing your answers at me.

Dizmo.
