my daughter is nearly 1 and she wont crawl or walk, she walks holding things but if you let go of her hand she is so scared she just sits down! is this normal for her age? shes so frustrated not being able to get about, she crys if i try and put her on her frount to crawl! she also crys if theres to many people around her or if someone talks or laughs to loud, and doesnt like new people, is she just not a confident baby? when with people she knows shes happy, laughing and playing, and she is so well behaived! but if any body new comes over to her she screams!

My middle daughter never crawled, she walked at 14 months. My eldest walked at 14 months also and my youngest a week after his first birthday. My grandson was walking by 9 months.
Children develop at their own pace and your daughter is not in any way delayed or late at walking at almost 1 year.
All kids are different and your daughter will develop at her own pace. My two youngest are 20 month old twins and they could not be more different - my son is very considered and careful about things and my daughter is too confident for her own good but also doesn't like strangers and screams when people she is unfamiliar with are in our house. Try not to worry, I am sure she'll be fine.
Hi carlie - hope you're ok.

My brother didn't walk until he was19 months and my mum couldn't be out of his sight untill he was about 3 years old. As the others have said all kids are different. My little one walked at 10 months (nightmare) and will go off with anyone - also a nightmare!

Some babies don't ever crawl, they just seem to skip that stage and go straight onto walking - I think the average age for walking is around one, so she may start soon. :)
i thought the same thing just a few weeks ago! my daughter is 13 months, and i have a friend whos niece is a week off turning 1. my daughter is still walking around the furniture and will walk perfectly fine holding one hand, but let go and she will sit down so fast! however my friends niece has been walking for a month. its natural to worry that your childs not developing fast enough but theyre still only young! give her time and she'll do it when shes ready
My daughter was 20 months old before she walked unaided and I was beside myself with worry despite the GP's reassurance that everything was ok. However, she was talking at a very, very young age. They all develop at their own pace......x
