Speaking of old programmes, does anyone remember a sci-fi series where all people were divided into categories- alpha, beta, gamma, delta, epsilon. The alphas were perfect blondes, betas intelligent brunettes, gammas plump curly haired goons, deltas not sure, and epsilons were the dregs of society, wandering round in hooded grey robes, not speaking. It was grim... early 80s perhaps?

Don't know about a TV series, but it sounds a lot like Aldous Huxley's novel "Brave New World". Maybe there was a TV adaptation?

I'm not sure about a TV series but it does sound like a TV movie from what I think was the seventies that I saw once.

Did the 'upper' classes live in a futuristic city and grey hoodies live in a run down inner city sort of environment ? (and no, I'm not talking about Logans Run) ?.

Jenstar, you are right. It was an American adaptation of 'Brave New World' and starred Keir Dulea (Who played Dave Bowman in '2001: A Space Odyssey').

I loved A Brave New World.  Wasn't Ford and Model T adored and conveyer belts had a lot to do with it.  I wish they would show it again.
