I’m certain my lap is on its way out, and prior to purchasing a new one I want to save all my Itunes onto an external drive (or memory stick or whatever). Can I move the whole programme and reinstall when I have a new computer or can I just save the individual tracks and whatever the answer, what do I do? I have no idea and would appreciate an “idiots guide”. Thanks in advance

you only need to backup the music, not the program. look in my documents > my music and copy the itunes folder to the external hard drive.
to back up all of the music go to File > Library > Back up to disk.
you can then copy this to CD (you may need several) and then when you get your new computer, downoad itunes from apple and place the first disk in the CD drive and should start to load your music from there.
Just to warn you, when you move to a different pc and download itunes - your purchased tracks don't move with you. I thought since it was the same account I was logging into they'd still be there (like your hotmail emails can be accessed from any pc) but they're not so make sure you copy those too if you have any.
